Sheriff Arrests Burglary Suspect

(County Sheriff's Deputies arrest a burglary suspect)....The suspect was found as he crossed into the U.S. from Mexico at the Calexico Port of Entry. Sergeant Miguel Leon says the suspect reportedly locked a families dogs in a shed before entering a county home and making off with several appliances and about $25,000 in jewelry.

IID - Board Approves Equitable Distribution Plan

( The Imperial Irrigation District Board approves the General Managers recommendations, but it is not unanimous)...IID General Manager Charles Hoskins said an Equitable Distribution Plan was long over-due. The Plan is required to enable the District to distribute Colorado River Water in times of water shortages. Consultants Doctor Michael Hanneman and Bennet Brooks put together a report that outlined recommendations of various plans the District could adopt. Hoskins chose the 'Straight Line' approach.

(The Imperial Irrigation District Board says Good-bye to 2 of its members)...Division 1 and Division 5 Directors Andy Horne and Rudy Maldonado attended their last official board meeting this week. Both Directors are leaving office after 8 years as Directors.

Jurg Hueberger is Heading to China

(The County is sending its Planning Director to China).. Actually, Jurg Hueberger is going to China as the Economic Development representative of Imperial County, and the trip is only for a visit. The Chinese Government invited a contingent from Imperial County to visit their nation and meet with industrial and business leaders.

El Centro - New Police Cheif Expected This Friday

(Leonard Knight is expected to begin work this Friday).... Knight is the new Police Chief for the City of El Centro. He takes over the permanent spot left by Ray Loera, after Loera was elected County Sheriff in June.

26 Year-Old Convicted of 2nd Degree Manslaughter

( A 26 year old is convicted of 2nd degree manslaughter and four other counts)...A Jury Monday determined Sergio Davilos was guilty in the April 2005 death of Elaine Castillos. The trial surrounded the traffic incident in last year in which the Davilos vehicle collided with the vehicle Castillos was in on Montgomery Road near the East Highline Canal.
