(Agents find fake IID truck)…Marijuana is found in the truck
. El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to the Calexico station arrested two men suspected of drug smuggling. The agents had observed the men loading bundles into a fake Imperial Irrigation District work truck Thursday. The incident occurred at around 11:30 pm. A remote Video Surveillance operator noticed two men make an illegal entry into the US near Drop 5 hydroelectric plant on the All American Canal. Border Patrol agents responded to the area. One of the men, a 32-year-old Mexican National entered the truck on the passenger side. The driver of the truck, a 25-year-old Mexican National drove away and failed to yield to Border Patrol agents as they attempted to conduct a vehicle stop. Soon after, the truck stopped and the men inside attempted to flee into Mexico. Agents were able to intercept both men. Inside the truck, agents found several large bundles that contained a total of 38 smaller packages of marijuana. The combined weight of the marijuana was 674.39 pounds, with a street value of more than $404,000. The men, the vehicle and the marijuana were all turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
