(Strike Team comes home)….The Imperial Valley Strike Team spent two weeks fighting fires.
The Team consisted of firefighters from the Brawley, Calipatria, Calexico, the County and Yuma Fire Departments. They were originally deployed to the Walker Fire near the Yosemite National Park on August 16th. After spending a week on the Walker Fire, the Team was reassigned to the Rough Fire near Fresno. The Strike Team spent a week at the Rough Fire performing structural protection duties. Sunday morning the Team was demobilized. They arrived home Sunday night. Most of the Strike Team members got a nights sleep, and were back on the job at their individual fire departments Monday morning. A Strike Team normally consists of an engine from each participating department and the crew to operate the engine.
