(BLM sure before giving the order)…The order was to close the Anza Road Bridge.
The Bureau of Land Management says they sent engineers to inspect the bridge, before determining the concrete steel infrastructure had severe structural deficiencies. The Bridge was closed off late last week. It will remain closed until the deficiencies are corrected. The Imperial County Public Works Department says the bridge needs to be replaced. The Department says they are working on replacing the structure under the Highway Bridge Program. They expect it could take three to four years before the bridge is replaced.
