(SB 415 moves to the Governor’s desk)….State Senator Ben Hueso says the bill was approved by the full senate this week.
Hueso says the bill will dramatically increase voter turnout in local elections. The state Senate approved the bill on a 26-12 vote. The Senator says the bill sends a clear message that elected officials support the effort to increase voter turnout and respect a democratic process. The bill applies to local governments whose elections already have a 25% decrease in voter turnout compared to the last four statewide races. It requires local governments to consolidate the election starting in 2022/
