(Solorio Guilty of 1st degree murder)….The verdict was handed down Wednesday.
The jury found Francisco Javier Solorio guilty of killing Albert Ramos of Brawley. The jury also found a special allegation that Solorio used a firearm to commit the crime. He faces a sentence of 50 years to life in prison. Solorio was tried for the March 2013 murder in the 1500 block of B Street in Brawley. The jury heard evidence that Solorio and Ramos had been long-time neighbors on B Street. Witnesses testified that as Ramos was walking in the Street with nothing but a soft drink in his hand, Solorio pulled out a gun and shot Ramos several times. The defense claimed Solorio was acting in self-defense.
