(Just when you thought they were tired of the controversy….)….Calexico Mayor Joong Kim has called a special meeting.
It will be held late Wednesday afternoon. One of the items on the agenda is to discuss the Job Performance of the City Manager. Richard Warne just recently was given a new contract by the Council to serve as City Manager. The other item on the agenda is to discuss terminating the consultant contract of Michael Bostic. Bostic is the interim Police Chief in Calexico. He was brought in to clean up the department. The California Joint Powers Insurance Authority has sent the Mayor a letter indicating they are not happy with his actions. The JPIA had voted to revoke insurance to the City because of its unstable administration. They changed their mind after Warne’s contract was approved. The letter indicates the JPIA is not happy with the latest special meeting. In fact the letters says they are not happy with a series of special meetings called by Kim since he became Mayor. The letter from the JPIA says the notification of the meetings has been very close to violating the notification regulations, and they have been scheduled for times that would not allow for a lot of public participation. The letter indicates the Cities insurance could once again be in jeopardy if either Warne or Bostic are fired.
