Freedom Fest, this Saturday

(This Saturday is the 239th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence)…Considered the Birthday of the United States.

Independence was declared from Great Britain on July 4th 1776. In Imperial County, it will be the 25th Anniversary of Freedom Fest. It has become a tradition in Imperial County to Celebrate Independence Day at Freedom Fest on the Campus of Imperial Valley College. It has also become the largest single day event in the Imperial County, with an average of 60,000 people on or around the IVC Campus and many more on canal banks, roadsides or listening at their homes. It not only celebrates the birth of our nation but also the Armed Services that protect out nation today. It is a dun-filled evening with food booths, numerous static displays, games for the kids, military vehicles and more throughout the grounds. The evening starts at 6:00 pm and continues through 10:30 pm. The free Fireworks Display, synchronized to music on FM 107.5, starts at 9:30 pm. This will be the 25th year FM 107.5 has produced and underwritten the fireworks show on behalf of the Imperial Chamber of Commerce.
