Garcia Picks Castro as Vet of the Year

(Brawley resident honored)….Ramon Castro is an ex-Marine.

This week Castro was recognized as The 56th Assembly District’s 2015 Veteran of the Year. The Recognition Ceremony was held in Sacramento Thursday. Castro and his family were the guests of Assemblyman Eduardo Garcia. Castro served in the US Marine Corps from 1996-2003. He did one tour in Kuwait in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Castro earned the rank of Sergeant and received several letters of commendation, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Iraqi Freedom Campaign Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National defense Service Medal, The Meritorious Mast, and the Rifle Marksmanship Badge. Upon his release, Castro joined the IBEW, and worked his way to become a Journeyman electrician. He has spent his time advocating for local military veterans, helping them improve their quality of life
