Grant funds to purchase automation system

(Supervisors approve MOU)…The Memorandum of Understanding is between the Sheriff’s Office and the Superior Court.

The two entities joined together to apply to the Judicial Council of California for a Recidivism Reduction Court Grant. The $378,041 grant will pay for the automation of the Pretrial Services Unit. A plan was developed to address prisoner realignment under AB 109. Part of the Plan was to create the Pretrial Services Unit to allow for relief for overcrowding issues and also to return low-level arrests back into the community pending their initial court date. For those that remain incarcerated, objective classification and individual case management will be utilized to reduce their likeliness to re-offend. All the work had been done by hand. With the grant funds, an automated system can be purchased making the Unit more efficient and effective.
