(It could get stinky in the extreme North County)…The Foul Smell may affect parts of Coachella Valley.
Air Quality officials in the Coachella Valley are warning residents to expect the smell of rotten eggs. They blame the Salton Sea. The official’s say higher than usual levels of hydrogen sulfide is being emitted from the Salton Sea. This creates an odor of rotten eggs. They say the gas emission is part of natural processes occurring at the Salton Sea. They say the smell could be spread by high winds. The South Coast Air Quality Management District says the foul odor may cause headaches, but no serious health hazards exist. They have not said how long the warning would last.
