(No action taken on report)…The Board of Supervisors heard most of the report.
The report was on Emergency Medical Services in Imperial County, specifically ambulance services. It was delivered by a consultant hired by the Public Health Department. The report indicated ambulance service was adequate in most of the County. The only exception was in Calexico. The Fire Department provides ambulance service in the Border City, and they just do not have enough ambulances to fill the need. Chief Mercado from Calexico said he received the report Monday and did not have enough time to read it all. He agreed a meeting between the consultant and all the stakeholders would be beneficial. County Fire Chief Tony Rouhotas supported Mercado, says there were several issues that need to be discussed. The Supervisors agreed they would not take any action on the report until after the meeting with the stakeholders was held.
