(Unemployment up slightly)…The latest numbers are for April.
They were released by the Labor Market Division of the Employment Development Department. According to the latest numbers, the jobless rate in April in Imperial County came in at 21.2 percent. That is up slightly from the revised 21.1 percent reported for March, but below the 21.9 percent unemployment rate reported in April 2014. This compares to the unadjusted unemployment rate of 6.1% for the state and 5.1% for the nation during the same period. The latest report indicates there were 16,500 unemployed out of a Labor Force of 77,700 in April.
