Man arrested for counterfeiting and a lot more

(Investigators hit the jackpot)…Calexico man arrested.

A search of his home turned up more than investigators suspected. A search warrant was executed Friday in Calexico by Sheriff’s investigators, assisted by Homeland Security Investigations, Border Patrol and US Marshals. The house was located in the 400 block of Mary Street in Calexico. 34-year-old Jose Angel Moreno Vasquez was arrested for cashing 10 counterfeit checks resembling Sheriff’s Office checks totaling $4,570. In searching the residence, investigators also found birth certificates, vehicle titles, digital copies of driver’s licenses, mail, credit cards, resident alien cards and personal identifying information that did not belong to the suspect. They also found counterfeit checks, 3 bindles with methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, sim cards and a bag, which contained two black ski masks, duct tape, a knife and OC spray. The suspect was booked into County Jail, charged with burglary, Grand Theft, Forgery and Counterfeiting, Theft, Possession of Stolen Property, False Personation, Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. His bail was set at $25,000.
