School Lock down a precaution

(Elementary School locked down)…It was only for about a half hour.

El Centro Police were called late this morning to the 1800 block of Brighton. Commander Robert Sawyer says a resident spotted a man stealing recyclables from a bin. The resident began chasing the man with what looked like a rifle. Another resident called police. Officers requested the lock down of Hedrick School while they searched for the resident with the rifle. Police were able to find the man within 30 minutes, and the school returned to normal activity. Sawyer says the rifle turned out to be a BB gun. The resident was admonished by officers. The Commander says the person stealing the recyclables was never found.
