(Local kids will be going to camp)…It is Camp Hope.
The County Board of Supervisors approved the agreement Tuesday with Alliance for Hope International. The agreement calls for the County to pay for a sponsorship in the Camp, and young people in the Social Services Department program will be able to attend the camp. The sponsorship costs the county $15,875. Imperial County will send 20 kids to camp. They will travel with the campers from San Diego. Ten of the older kids will attend camp in Northern California. The younger kids will go to a camp in Central California. Camp Hope California is the first statewide camping and mentoring initiative in the United States to focus on children exposed to domestic violence and/or victims of emotional, physical and sexual abuse. This will be the second year the Imperial County participates in the initiative.
