(Protest well organized)…But not a lot of public support.
Organizers planned a protest Thursday, in which they were going to block traffic from crossing into the United States at the Ports of Entry from San Ysidro and Calexico. The group was upset with Mexican laws that now limit the number of used cars exported into Mexico. They say the new law takes away all their profit. The protests, however, fizzled. Reports are only some lanes were blocked at the San Ysidro Port. None were blocked at Otay Mesa. In Calexico the start of the protest was postponed for over an hour until it was finally called off. Mexicali Police told the group that they would not be permitted to block lanes at any of the Calexico Ports.
