U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested three Mexican citizens after discovering more than 145 pounds of marijuana in their pickup truck.
The arrests came Tuesday night when Border Patrol agents saw two individuals swim across the All-American Canal. The individuals had three large burlap sacks and after crossing the canal , carried them north along a irrigation canal towards a field road. Shortly before 11:00 PM , agents observed the a man driving a pickup truck stop and pick up the two men and the burlap sacks. A traffic stop was made at the intersection of Menvielle and Carr Roads where three men , the 36-year old driver and a 45-year old man and 17-year old male were taken into custody. The burlap sacks contained over 145 pounds of marijuana with a value of more than $87,000. The men , the vehicle and the marijuana were turned over to the Imperial County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area task force for further investigation.
