Busy Weekend For Border Patrol

United States Border Patrol agents were busy over the weekend.

On Sunday morning , agents assigned to the Calexico Station discovered more than 230 pounds of marijuana near Bowker Road and Interstate 8. It is suspected that the marijuana was smuggled into the U.S. by an ultra-light aircraft and was intended to be picked up and transported by smugglers on the ground. The marijuana has a street value of more than $140,000.

Later Sunday afternoon , agents at the Calexico downtown port of entry discovered more than 15 gallons of liquid methamphetamine in the fuel tank of a pickup truck attempting to cross into the U.S. The driver , a 39-year old U.S. citizen from Lemon Grove , California , was arrested and booked into Imperial County Jail.

Early Monday morning , Border Patrol agents discovered 84 packages of marijuana abandoned on the banks of the Alamo River about 7 miles east of Calexico. The marijuana had a street value of over $625,000.
