(Marijuana found in tour bus)….The commercial tour bus was attempting to cross the border at the East Port of Entry late last week.
The 1997 bus was being driven by a 43 year old Ensenada man. Customs and Border Protection officers referred the bus to the secondary inspection area. A CBP narcotics detector dog alerted to the undercarriage of the bus. The officers searched the bus using a fiber-optic scope. They discovered 41 wrapped bundles concealed inside a hidden compartment built into the vehicle’s fuel tank. The bundles were extracted from the tank and field-tested positive for marijuana. The bundles weighed over 391 pounds, with a street value of more than $176,000. The bus driver was arrested and turned over to Homeland Security Investigations agents for further processing. The citizen of Mexico was then booked into County Jail to await arraignment. The CBP seized the bus and the marijuana.
