The California Highway Patrol is investigating a collision that occurred Thursday afternoon and claimed the life of an 82-year old woman.

At about 5:23 p.m. Tuesday the CHP received a number of 911 calls reporting a 2017 Toyota going northbound in the southbound lanes of State Route 111 from Evan Hewes Highway. Just minutes later there was a report of an accident involving the Toyota and 2003 Ford truck. The driver of the wrong way car ,  82-year old Rhoda Strahm of Holtville , succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the truck , identified only as being 43-years old from Brawley , suffered a fractured leg in the collision. According to the CHP , impairment does not appear to be factor in the accident. The accident remains under investigation.
