Tico finds marijuana in Calexico

(El Centro canine finds marijuana)…It was found in Calexico.

At 8:31 Wednesday morning the El Centro Police Department’s K-9 Unit was conducting training at a parking facility in Calexico. During the training, Officer James Thompson and his K-9 partner Tico, were walking past a group of vehicles parked in the lot. Tico alerted to a 2001 Ford F-150 pickup. The alert was to the vehicles tires. Officers secured the pickup and a subsequent search led to the discovery of 29 bundles of marijuana, weighing 119.8 pounds. The Bundles were concealed within five tires, four attached to the pickup and the spare. The wholesale value of the marijuana was set at $53,910, with a resale value of over $1 million. The case is still under investigation. No arrests have been made.
