(Agreement reached with Pima Community College)…A US District Court still needs to approve the agreement.
The Justice Department says if it approved, it will resolve allegations that the Community College violated the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act by discriminating against Army National Guardsman Timothy Stoner. The Act prohibits employment discrimination based on a service member’s past, current or future military status, service or obligation. Stoner is a Police Officer at the Community College. He is also a 22-year military veteran, having served two deployments in Afghanistan and Iraq. He twice applied for a Corporal Supervisory position, but was twice rejected. In a lawsuit Stoner filed, he alleges the determining factor was his military history.
