(Two narcotics seizures)…One was at the Andrade Port and the other was at Calexico East.
Three men were arrested in the separate incidents. They happened just minutes apart Monday. Customs and Border Protection says at 8:00 am, two men arrived at the Andrade Port in the 1987 Dodge Dakota pickup. The 56-year-old driver and his 57-year-old passenger were referred to the secondary inspection area. A CBP canine team alerted to the toolbox in the pickup bed. The toolbox and bed liner were removed, and officers discovered 34 wrapped packages taped to the truck bed’s front wall. 30 of the packages field-tested positive for methamphetamine, three as cocaine and one as heroin. The combined value of the drugs was estimated at $380,000. The two men, both Mexican citizens and residents of San Luis Rio Colorado, the narcotics and the vehicle were turned over to Homeland Security investigations. Minutes later a pickup arrived at the Calexico East Port. A search of the toolbox of that vehicle resulted in the discovery of five wrapped bundles of methamphetamine, valued at $200,000. The 45-year-old driver of the pickup, a Mexican citizen from Mexicali, was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations.
