| $1.4 Million in Marijuana Nabbed |

Calexico Station Border Patrol agents arrested two men and seized over $1.4 million worth of marijuana Thursday afternoon.
The arrests came after two vehicles, a 2000 Cadillac and a 2002 Suzuki SUV , illegally crossed into the United States about 20 miles east of Calexico, California. Both vehicles travelled through the desert to Highway 98 where they turned and headed westbound toward Calexico. A Border Patrol agent stopped the Cadillac, while a second agent attempted to stop the Suzuki. The SUV initially failed to yield but did stop after a short pursuit. The vehiicles had both been reported stolen. After a search of the vehicles a total of 1,786.3 pounds of marijuana in 92 individually wrapped bundles was discovered. The marijuana is valued at $1,437,040.00. The two smugglers, the stolen vehicles and the dope were turned oveer to the United States Drug Enforcement Administration. |
