The El Centro City Council will consider a vote to seek affiliation or other options for El Centro Regional Medical Center.
According to the City , affiliation with the right partner may give ECRMC access to additional resources , clinical expertise and economy of scale that would enable the city owned hospital to thrive and continue delivering high quality health care in the Imperial Valley. El Centro Mayor Benjamin J. Solomon III said , " ECRMC is a finacially healthy hopsital that is delivering high quality care. We have been able to consitently operate profitably and are in a position of strength in terms of planning for the future."
Changes driven by health care reform , like insurance exchanges and reduced reimbursement for Medicare and Medicaid programs , enhance the potential benefits of affiliation for ECRMC in meeting the needs of the Imperial Valley according to Solomon.
El Centro City Manager Ruben Duran has recommended the firm of Hammond Hanlon Camp LLC , San Diego division to assist the city during the evaluation process. The City Council meeting will be held Tuesday , May 7, 2013 at 6:00 P.M. at Council Chambers in El Centro City Hall
