(Historical exhibit at IV Desert Museum)….The display will be at the Museum near Ocotillo through July. The exhibit is entitled Gold Rush, The Untold Stories of the California Gold Rush. Most believe the Gold Rush was in northern California, in the Sacramento area. In reality, the Gold Rush was in almost all of the State. At one time there were 130 gold mines in Imperial County. Some of the artifacts in the exhibit are on loan from the Bureau of Land Management. Most of the artifacts are from around the Imperial Valley and date back to the 1860’s. More information on the exhibit and the Museum, itself, is available at the Imperial Valley Desert Museum website.
