(Marijuana growing operation, eradicated)…It happened early Wednesday morning. El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents say a citizen’s report was received of a possible outdoor marijuana growing operation. At 1:00 am the agents, utilizing all-terrain vehicles, met with Bureau of Land Management Rangers within the vicinity. The agents coordinated with the BLM before heading out. They found irrigation tubing leading out of the Whitewater River. The Agents followed the tubing, which led them to an outdoor growing operation. The agents found about 2,000 marijuana plants at the site. The plants ranged from seedlings to plants two feet high. The area was searched and agents found two abandoned campsites, tools, a two-way radio, irrigation tubing and fertilizer. The El Centro Sector agents are currently working with the Drug Enforcement Administration in an ongoing investigation. No arrests have been made, yet.
