(Unemployment rate down)…The numbers were released for the January 2013 jobless rate.

 The first unemployment rate was almost a percentage point down, compared to the final jobless rate of 2012. The employment Development Department Labor Market Information Division released the report. They indicate the unemployment rate for January was 25.8 percent. That is down from the revised estimate of 26.3 percent reported for December 2012. The January numbers are also down from the report for the same month a year ago. The jobless rate for January 2012 was 27%. The unadjusted unemployment rate for the state in January was 10.4% and 8.5% for the nation. The latest report indicates 20,100 eligible workers were unemployed in January. Over 57,900 were employed during that period. The highest unemployment rate in the state in January was Colusa County, who reported a jobless rate of 27.7%.
