(Assemblyman Perez appoints Assemblyman Perez)….California State Assembly Speaker John Perez made the appointment. He appointed Assemblyman V. Manuel Perez to the position of Assistant Majority Floor Leader. Manuel Perez represents Coachella Valley and all of Imperial County in the Assembly. The appointment was effective immediately. The appointee will serve as the assistant to the Majority Floor Leader Toni Atkins of San Diego, whose role it is to expedite Assembly Floor proceedings through parliamentary procedures, such as motions and points of order, and to maintain harmony among the membership. Assemblyman Manuel Perez takes over the position previously held by Assemblyman Anthony Rendon of Lynwood. Rendon has been appointed the new Chair of the Assembly Water, Parks and Wildlife Committee, replacing Ben Hueso, who was recently sworn in as the new State Senator representing Imperial County and parts of San Diego and Riverside Counties. The 40th State Senate District was vacated when Juan Vargas was elected to the US Congress.
