(Mexicali man killed by suspected drunk driver)…The California Highway Patrol in El Cajon is investigating.

 They have not released the victims name. The CHP says the 42 year old man was driving a van, towing another vehicle. His wife was driving a third vehicle behind the van. At around 4:00 Saturday morning one of the vehicle experienced mechanical problems. The stopped at the side of Interstate 8 Near Lake Jennings Road. As the victim leaned in the window of his wife’s vehicle, another vehicle hit him. The Mexicali man’s body was found in the grassy center divider. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The CHP arrested 38 year old Jeremiah Smith of Alpine. They suspect Smith was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time. No other injuries were reported. The eastbound lanes on the Interstate were closed while the Highway Patrol investigated the incident.
