(State recently announces a change in school hours)....According to the report, schools would begin their days later than last year.

The Education Code was adjusted to state, The School day for Highg Schools, including high schools operating as Charter schools, shal begin no earlier than 8:30 am. What the report did not say was that there was an exemption for schools that declared rural status. At least one local school district has declared the exemption. Central Union High School District has claimed the Rural Status exemption, which means school hours in the Central Union High School District will not change from what they were last year. Both Schools in the District, Central and Southwest will remain on the current starting and ending schedule. Any questions and clarifications should be directed to the Assistant Superintendent, Educational Services, at 760-336-4530.
