A Tuesday evening fire displaced a number of families.

The fire was reported at 8:15 p.m. in a mobile home park at 2002 West 8th Street. Wheb Yuma Fire Department arrived at the scene there were several mobile homes fully involved in fire. Extremely strong winds in the narrow confines of the mobile home park allowed the fire to spread. Eight mobile homes were destroyed or severely damaged. There were no reported injuries, and the American Red Cross is providing assistance to the displaced families. Firefighters from the Imperial County Fire Department, Yuma Marine Corps Air Station and Rural Metro Fire responded to a mutual aid request. Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
