Dove season opens Wednesday.

The first part of the 2021 Dove season is expected to bring hunters to the Imperial Valley for the chance to hunt the elusive birds. Reports indicate that the dove are plentiful throughout the Valley but the recent unsettled weather may make hunting more difficult. The COVID-19 pandemic may also keep the numbers of hunters down. The bag limit for doves is 15 with up to 10 white-winged dove. The possession limit is triple the bag limit. There is no limit on the invasive Eurasian collard doves and they may be hunted year-round. Hunters are reminded to use only non-lead ammunition in California. The first part of the season runs September 1 - 15 and then closes until November 13 when it reopens through December 27.
