(El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents)....They were working the Highway 111 checkpoint Wednesday.

They say a Mercury arrived at the checkpoint at around 12:30 in the afternoon. A Canine Narcotics Detection Team alerted to the vehicle and it was sent to the secondary inspection area. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of two plastic wrapped packages. The contents tested positive for methamphetamine. The narcotics weighed 1.99 pounds and was valued at $5,400. The driver of the vehicle, a lawful permanent resident, the vehicle and the meth were turned over to the Imperial County Narcotics Task Force.
