U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped a load of 430 pounds of methamphetamine Sunday night.

At about 11:30 p.m. a canine alerted to a cargo van at the Calexico downtown port of entry. The van was referred to secondary inspection where CBP officers using the port's X-ray imaging system noticed anomalies in the vehicle. Officers recovered 23 packages with a combined weight of 430 pounds from the van's floor and spare tire. The narcotics have a street value of $1.2 million. The driver , a U.S. citizen , was arrested and  turned over to special agents with Homeland Security Investigations.
