Two U. S. Marine Corp aircraft collided Tuesday afternoon near the Salton Sea.

A KC-130 and a F-35B apparently collided at about 4:00 p.m. during an air-to-air refueling operation. The F-35B crashed and burned just west of Salton City. The pilot ejected safely. The KC-130 made an emergency belly landing near the Jaqueline Cochrane Regional Airport near Thermal. All eight crew members of the aerial tanker were said to be safe. According to USNI News , both aircraft were operating out of MCAS Yuma.
