(CBP cracking down)…They issued a press released late last week.

The release said the Customs and Border Protection was cracking down on non-essential border crossers. For the past several months Mexico and the United States agreed to slow the spread of COVID 19 by closing the International Border to non-essential border crossers. That did not deter anyone. The CBP admits they cannot deny US citizens and legal border crossers from crossing the border, but they can make it difficult. Every border crosser determined to be a non-essential border crosser is being sent to the secondary inspection area. The traffic in the secondary inspection area is piling up, resulting in sometimes 6-8 hour waits to cross the International Border into the United States. For their part, Mexican officials periodically stop every vehicle coming across the border, taking temperatures, increasing inspections and turning back all non-essential crossers.
