(County Supervisors discuss an appeal to a mining project)....The issue was discussed at this week's Board of Supervisors meeting.

The Quechan Tribe and an environmental group were both appealing the Oro Cruzz mining project. The Quechan's said the project near the Cargo Muchacho Mountains was on sacred ground. The environmentalists said the project would upset the plant life in the area. After a signifficant amount of discussion, the Supervisors voted 3-1 to uphold the appeal. The decision does not mean the project goes away. It means this effort is canceled, but the Mining Company can reapply by starting the process all over again.
