High winds whipped through the Imperial Valley over the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), sustained winds between 30 and 40 miles per hour were measured over the weekend with a peak at NAF El Centro of 60 mph on Saturday afternoon and 64 mph on Sunday. The Imperial irrigation District responded to a number of scattered power outages and the California Mid-Winter Fair saw the expected crowds diminish. A number of the Midway rides were shut down due to safety concerns. NWS says that the wind velocity started to drop Sunday evening and the first of the week should see winds up to 20mph.
