U.S. Border Patrol agents seized more than 12 pounds of fentanyl Friday.

Agents at the Campo Border Patrol Station stopped a car heading westbound on Interstate 8. A K-9 team alerted to the vehicle and a search of the car resulted in agents locating numerous vacuum sealed packages in the rear quarter panels of the car. The packages contained over 12 pounds of blue M30 pills. The driver and passenger were turned over to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department for further investigation.

Fiscal Year-to-date, San Diego Sector Border Patrol agents have taken more than 200 pounds of fentanyl off the streets.
