(Brawley Police Department is holding a DUI Checkpoint)....It will be set-up at 7 Friday night.

It will remain in effect until mid-night. The Department says the checkpoint will be in the 900 block of Main Street. The checkpoint is funded under a grant from the California Highway Patrol Cannabis Fund Grant Program. The idea behind the checkpoint is to make the streets safer in Brawley. They do that by removing drivers under influence of drugs or alcohol from the streets. The Department says drivers charged with a first time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.
