A joint operation by federal, state and local agencies resulted in the seizure of more than 720,000 fentanyl pills.

According to California Attorney General Rob Bonta, " The massive bust is the largest fentanyl seizure since the Department of Justice announced a partnership between the State's Fentanyl Enforcement Program and the DOJ's Fentanyl Abatement and Suppression Team. On February 9, 2024, an individual was arrested near Alpine in San Diego County. A total of 110 packages, with a combined weight of over 158 pounds, were recovered. The packages contained blue "M-30" pills. More than 720,000 pills were seized. Agencies participating in the operation included the Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations, Fentanyl Abatement and Suppression Team, in collaboration with the California Department of Justice, the United States Border Patrol, and the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
