(County Supervisors announced an appointment)....Only to rescind it a week later.

The County Board of Supervisors were tasked with appointing someone from Ocotillo or Seeley to the new Imperial Valley Healthcare District Board of Directors. Last week, two months after the deadline, they submitted a name. They appointed Doctor Mervat Minerva Kelada to the Board. She is registered to vote in Seeley. This week, the Board rescinded the appointment announced last week. District 1 Supervisor Jesus Eduardo Escobar had originally nominated Kelada, and he was the one to request the appointment be rescinded. Escobar said after the appointment was announced last week, he heard rumors of a possible conflict with the appointee. It was then decided to appoint James Salvador Garcia to serve on the IVHD Board of Directors. If this appointment sticks, it is the last appointment needed to complete the new Board of Directors. The Imperial Valley Healthcare District Board has already held one official meeting. The district was formed through State legislation to serve all of the Imperial Valley's Healthcare needs.
