Two people died in a traffic accident Tuesday morning.

According to the Yuma County Sheriff's Office, the accident occurred at about 10:39 a.m. on Highway 80 and Avenue 26 E. The initial investigation shows that a truck with two trailers was eastbound on Highway 80 when the driver lost control of the truck and crossed the center divider where it smashed into a pick-up truck.  The driver of the pick-up, 75-year-old Margarita Lopez of Yuma, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the pick-up, 57-year-old Gilberto Lopez of Yuma, was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
