U. S. Customs and Border Protection has reported an increase in the number of illegal border crossings along the southern border.

According to Border Patrol figures released last week, slightly less that 250,000 arrests were recorded from May through December 2023 along the southwest border. The majority of the illegal border crossers were Mexican nationals but there were significant numbers of immigrants from Venezuela and Haiti. The tally included more than 78,8000 individual family members.
