An incarcerated person at Centinela State Prison suffered fatal stab wounds on Sunday.

According to a press release from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, they are investigating the incident that occurred at about 2:15 p.m. Sunday. Officers observed two incarcerated individuals attacking a third prisoner. Responding officers were able to stop the attack after seven applications of O.C. Pepper spray. The victim, Enrique Saucedo, was treated at the prison and then transferred to a Valley hospital where he died. The attackers were identified as David Veloz, 40, and Rigoberto Estrada, 45. Veloz is serving 25 years to life sentence for attempted murder from Los Angeles County. Estrada was sentenced to CDCR from Riverside County and is serving two life sentences with the possibility of parole for first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder. Saucedo, 29, was sentenced to CDCR out of Los Angeles County to serve a 14-year sentence for one count of manufacturing/selling/distributing/transporting assault weapons and one count of transporting/importing a controlled substance. The incident remains under investigation.
