A portion of Even Hewes Highway will get a facelift.

The Imperial County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a contract with Rove Engineering for the Even Hewes Highway Rehabilitation Project. Earlier this year, the Board adopted plans and specifications for the rehabilitation project that will go from the eastern city limits of El Centro to State Route 111. The project includes grinding a layer of existing pavement, a concrete leveling course, a Geosynthetic Pavement Interlayer, 2-inch overlay, striping and signage. The total amount of the project is not to exceed $1,750.000. The cost of the project is covered by $1 million from the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021 and money from Special Revenue funding.
