A man saw someone trying to break into his truck early Tuesday morning.

The truck was parked near 2nd and Main Streets in El Centro when a man wearing a yellow vest and black pants was observed breaking into the vehicle. When confronted, the thief dropped items that had been taken from the truck and ran southbound on New Street. The victim told officers that the man was armed with a knife.  El Centro Police were able to catch the thief near Brighton and New Streets a short time later. The suspect, a 31-year-old man, was booked into Imperial County Jail on charges of Armed Robbery, Making Criminal Threats, and Brandishing a Weapon at a Police Officer.
