(Over $3 million of marijuana seized)...It happened at the Tecate Port of Entry. Late last week a tractor-trailer rig entered the cargo facility.

The shipment the rig was carrying was manifested as decorated clay planters. The 53 year old male driver, with a valid crossing card, was sent to the secondary inspection area. During the inspection a K-9 alerted to the trailer of the rig. Customs and Border Protection officers searched the cargo and found 132 packages. The packages contained marijuana, with a combined weight of over 1,700 pounds. The street value was estimated at $3.4 million. The CBP seized the marijuana and the rig. The driver was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations for further processing. While recreational marijuana is legal in some states, it is still illegal under federal law.
